When you start to paint, start with diagonal movements in “zig-zag” pattern in order to leave the greater quantity of paint in the surface.

Back to the area painted with long, up and down movements to even out the paint.

Paint each surface in blocks of little more than one square meter (1m2).  Paint adjacent blocks before each prior block dries. This technique allows "to match" the edges (blend edges) and avoids lap lines of paint. When use paint with gloss finish, paint the block at once because this type of paints tend to show easily lap lines.

When painting window frameworks, you can mask off adjacent areas that you do not want to paint (for instance window glasses).  Place the mask tape just next to the edges of the framework.
The order to paint the room is from top to bottom. Start with the ceiling, continue with the walls and finalize with the woodwork. When you start with the ceiling, first paint with brush the adjacent edges to the wall.  Paint out five centimeters (5cm) onto the ceiling.
The easiest way to paint the ceiling is with a roller and an extend arm (made of plastic or wood).  This allows you to paint while you are in the floor and avoid to use stepladders. Start to paint from the edges to the centre until painting all the ceiling.
Once the paint in the ceiling is dry, you can start to paint the walls. Start painting edges and adjacent areas to the ceiling, windows, doors and woodworks with brush.   Paint one entire area or wall at a time.
Use roller to paint the rest of the room, painting from the ceiling to the woodwork.

Once the paint in the walls has dried, paint doors or windows. This activity requires time and patience. Try to use brushes with the same width of frameworks and sashes. When painting windows, paint the sashes first. Then work on the casings and finally, the sills.

In the case of doors, use roller for quick application.
