Yes. Recol® Varnish is a varnish formulated for use in interiors and exterior

Which is the use Recol® Varnish?

Recol® Varnish serves as final coat in the construction and as decorative product in surfaces such as metal, wood, concrete, brick, etc., providing a shine and resistant finish.

Is there a special condition for the application of Recol® Varnish on wood?

Yes.  The options are: a) when you want to change the color of the wood, you must add to the varnish a small proportion of Recol® Enamel or Recol® Tint Universal, diluting the mixture with one fourth of mineral spirit in order to improve the penetration of the product. b) When you want to have colorless film, just dilute one gallon of varnish with a pint of mineral spirit (or equivalent).

  1. Is there a special condition for the application of the varnish on brick, granite and stones?

Yes. In the case you want to apply Recol® Varnish on brick, granite and stones, wash the surface and allow it to dry perfectly.  Apply Recol® Varnish using a dilution of one pint of mineral spirit per gallon of varnish (or equivalent).

Is there a special condition for the application of Recol® Varnish on alkaline surfaces?

Yes.  In the case you want to apply Recol® Varnish on alkaline surfaces such as asbestos-cement, concrete or cement, you must wash previously the surface with a 10% solution of muriatic acid in water; then rinse the surface, allow it to dry perfectly and apply the product. Use appropriate personal protection equipment.

Why is it necessary to dilute the Varnishes with mineral spirit and not with thinner?

Dilution with thinner has some problems: loss of shine, alteration in the color of the film, problems of stability.  Conversely, the advantages to use mineral spirit are: better shine development and better appearance of the film.

Is it possible to color the Varnish?

Yes.  One of the methods is to use enamel. Other method is to use Recol®Tint Universal
