Which factors do define the classification of vinyl paints?

The classification of vinyl paints is basically according to paint’s properties and final use. For instance, vinyl paint type 1 and super type 1 present the higher durability and stability, that’s why they are especially useful for applications in exteriors. Vinyl paints type 2, 3 and economic present relative smaller resistance and durability in comparison with vinyl paint type 1 and super type 1 (under the same conditions of use), that’s why vinyl paints type 2, 3 and economic are especially useful for applications in interiors. In general, the difference among types of vinyl paint is related with its composition and reflects in its performance.
Why is it not recommended to apply in exteriors the paint used for interiors?

Because climatic conditions in exteriors are stronger than interiors. These conditions are heat, direct sunlight, rain, humidity, dust, etc.
Is there a special condition for the application of water base paints on cement, asbestos-cement, concrete or, in general, over alkaline surfaces?

Yes. If you are going to apply a water base paint on alkaline surfaces such as cement, asbestos-cement or concrete, you must neutralize previously the surface with a 10% solution of muriatic acid in water. Allow the acid to act on the surface for at least 15 minutes. Then rinse with plenty of water; allow the surface to dry completely and seal the porous areas with Neutral Recol® Plaster. Use appropriate personal protection equipment.
Is there a special condition for the application of vinyl paints on wood, brick or other porous surfaces?

Yes. For application on wood, brick or other slightly porous surfaces that have not been painted, apply PVA-Acrylic (in exteriors), PVA-Vinyl acrylic (in interiors) or a vinyl primer like Recol® Glaze which help to seal and level the surface, improving in this manner the performance of the paint.
Is there a special condition for the application of water base paints on metals?

Yes. On ferrous metals: apply initially Non Corrosive Recol®; on aluminum and galvanized surfaces: clean and allow to dry well the metal; on zinc and steel polished: apply initially a primer type Wash Primer and, subsequently, apply Non Corrosive Recol®.
How can the hue of water based paints be modified?

There are several options: in order to modify the hue of your paint you can use rich pigment products such as Recol®Tint or use a water base paint of another color (make sure the water base paint you use has the same characteristics of performance as the paint to modify).
