Description:
Unwanted textured finish in the paint film produced in the “roller” process.

Possible causes:

  1. The roller is not in apt conditions for its use.
  2. The technique used in the application with roller is not the most adequate.

Solution:

  • Employ rollers of synthetic fiber (nylon or polyester) to apply water base paints.
  • Employ roller of natural fiber to apply solvent base paints.
  • Check the roller is in a good condition in thickness and uniformity before using it in the application of the paint.
  • In the application of water base paints, damp previously the roller with water and then shake it to eliminate the excess of water.
  • Make the “conditioning” of the roller, by leaving it impregnated with the paint five minutes before the use.
  • Do not let the paint to dry in the roller after the use or when you are going to store the roller.
  • Before retouching, smooth by sanding the areas that already have the problem of roller marks
