Description:
Detachment or removal of the paint film when this rubs with a brush, sponge or piece of cloth.

Possible causes:

  1. Washing or rubbing of the paint film before it completes its hardened time.
  2. Use of an abrasive cleaner or cleaning with abrasive materials.
  3. Inappropriate selection of the type of paint: a paint formulated for interiors is applied in exteriors.
  4. Film thickness is below recommended values.

Solution:

    • Let to harden completely the surface before cleaning it.  Let at least two (2) weeks before washing the surface.
    • Make sure the paint applied is formulated for the environment at which it is going to protect: interior / exterior.
    • Clean the surface with not abrasive materials.
    • Make sure the thickness of the paint film is the adequate one. Follow the recommendations related to dilution and number of coats for such purpose.
    • Use satin, semi gloss or gloss paints in areas of high traffic instead of very flat paints.
