Description:
Detachment or removal of the paint film when this rubs with a brush, sponge or piece of cloth.
Possible causes:
- Washing or rubbing of the paint film before it completes its hardened time.
- Use of an abrasive cleaner or cleaning with abrasive materials.
- Inappropriate selection of the type of paint: a paint formulated for interiors is applied in exteriors.
- Film thickness is below recommended values.
Solution:
- Let to harden completely the surface before cleaning it. Let at least two (2) weeks before washing the surface.
- Make sure the paint applied is formulated for the environment at which it is going to protect: interior / exterior.
- Clean the surface with not abrasive materials.
- Make sure the thickness of the paint film is the adequate one. Follow the recommendations related to dilution and number of coats for such purpose.
- Use satin, semi gloss or gloss paints in areas of high traffic instead of very flat paints.
