Recol® Varnish can be applied
on any porous surface, whenever this surface is clean, dry, free of dust, dirt,
grease, oxide, loose particles, contaminant agents and paint in bad condition. |
Stir well Recol® Varnish
with aid of spatula, until achieving total homogeneity of the product. |
General tools used in the application:
brush, roller, conventional air sprayer. |
Provide adequate ventilation during the
installation. |
Surfaces that have been already painted
and are in good condition must be sanded lightly in order to confer them a matt
finish, ensuring the adherence to such surfaces. |
For application on ferrous metal, lock
out the oxide; clean and dry very well the surface and then apply Recol®
Varnish. |
In surfaces such as galvanized,
aluminum, tin or other not ferrous metals, it is necessary to apply previously a
primer like Wash Primer. |
For application on other varnish, just
sand. |
| |
For application on wood, there are two
methods of application: |
| |
a) when the goal is to change the color
of the wood, tint Recol® Varnish with small quantities of Recol® Enamel o
Recol®Tint Universal and then dilute this mixture with ¼ part of mineral spirit
to enhance the penetration of Recol® Varnish in the wood. |
b) when the goal is to obtain a
transparent coat, just dilute in proportion of 1/8 of mineral spirit per gallon
of Recol® Varnish or similar proportion. |
For application of Recol® Varnish on
asbestos-cement, concrete o cement, wash previously these surfaces with a 10%
muriatic acid solution in water; rinse, allow the surface dry and then apply
Recol® Varnish. |
For application with brush or roller the
dilution is not recommended. |
Use natural bristles brushes for the
application. |
For application with conventional air
sprayer: dilute Recol® Varnish with 10% of mineral spirit; adjust the pressure
of the equipment and apply uniformly on the object to paint. |
The solvent for dilution is mineral
spirit. |
In some cases, the dilution with thinner
can produce problems such as loss of shine, whitening of the film or
flocculation. |
The advantages to use mineral spirit are: better shine and
smoothness of the film. |
Allow a time to touch between 1 to 2 hours and
a retouch time between 8 to 10 hours. |
The time of dying depends on the weather conditions of
humidity and temperature. |
Recommendations: |
Once you have finished the
application of Recol® Varnish and/or its mixtures, clean the tools used with
mineral spirit or thinner. |
Cover up hermetically the recipients,
avoiding contaminations that can produce eventual deterioration of the product
in storage. |
When you use solvents of acids, make
sure you use the appropriate personal protection equipment. |
